If you plan to be “off the beaten path” traveller, you may want to start off with this 10 days trip to Cambodia. In addition to visiting Angkor Wat, the infamous UNESCO World Heritage Site, you will also get to explore the quaint provinces such as Battambang and Kep, where the path have not yet been ‘beaten’ by crowd of tourists; watch sunset over the top of pyramid-shaped temple of Pre Rup; and learn about the history and culture of this exotic country throughout the trip.
Day 1: Phnom Penh
Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be warmly greeted and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, take a ride in a cyclo for the city tour and visit National Museum, the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda. End your day with a boat trip and watch sun sets over the capital city.
Day 2: Phnom Penh
After breakfast, you will visit Toul Sleng the genocide meseum and the Killing fields. In the afternoon, experience the traditional Khmer culture by visiting the Sovann Phum office.
Day 3: Phnom Penh - Battambang
Depart Phonm Penh to Battambang. On the way, you will stop at Udong, Cambodia’s Royal Capital from the early 17th to 19th centuries. The town was abandoned in 1866 when King Norodom moved his court to Phnom Penh. Afterwards, you will visit Kampong Chhnang, a city famous for its ceramic workshops. You will arrive Battambang later in the afternoon.
Day 4: Battambang – Phnom Sampeau
Today, you will discover the 11th century Ek Phnom Temple and be fascinated by the beautiful carvings inside. After lunch, you will visit Phnom Banan and enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. End today’s trip with a visit to Phnom Sampeau, a natural rocky hill with numbers of caves to explore.
Day 5: Battambang - Siem Reap – Angkor Thom
Today, you will leave Battambang to Siem Reap to begin your wonderful exploration of temples of Angkor. In the afternoon, you will get a chance to ride Tuk Tuk to visit the city of Angkor Thom. You will then take a walk along the ancient city wall to see the lost temple of Prasat Chroung. The walking tour will continue to Bayon temple, where you be surrounded by smiling Buddha statues. End the day trip with more visits to the Terrace of the Elephants, the Royal Palace and the Terrace of the Leper King.
Day 6: Ta Prohm - Angkor Wat - Banteay Srei
Early morning, before breakfast, take Tuk Tuk to visit Ta Prohm temple—jungle enveloped temple. After, you will visit the infamous Angkor Wat. The guide will guide you around this magnificent structure and walk you through the story on the glories of the Kingdom of Angkor. Return to the hotel for a late breakfast and freshen up. In the afternoon, you will visit temple of Banteay Srei or ‘Citadel of the Women’. You will then leave for Siem Reap to enjoy the sunset from the top of the pyramid-shaped temple of Pre Rup.
Day 7: Tonle Sap Lake
Today you will take Tuk Tuk to the edge of Siem Reap. Experience an enjoyable ox cart ride in the countryside. Afterwards you will travel to Tonle Sap, Cambodia’ largest freshwater lake. Board the boat and spend the rest of the morning at Kompong Phluk, one of the largest villages on the lake. Be fascinated by the way villagers live on water. Spend the rest of your day at leisure.
Day 8: Siem Reap - Phnom Penh - Kep
Today, you will leave Siem Reap and fly to Phnom Penh. As soon as you have arrived, you will be driven along the coast to a beautiful resort in Kep. After you have checked in, feel free to lose yourself in the beauty of this coastal city.
Day 9: Kep
Your extreme relaxation continues. You may choose to wander around and view some French colonial architecture, take a trip out the famous Rabbit Island or just sit by the beach and appreciate the moment.
Day 10: Depart Phnom Penh
You can spend the morning at leisure until it’s time to leave for the airport.
